Dr. Saara Hyvönen is one of the three Founders of DAIN Studios, a Finnish–German company providing consultancy on Data & AI from strategy to implementation. The company combines a team of highly experienced experts in the field of AI & Data Science, Data Engineering and Governance. Since our start in 2016 we have worked with 90+ companies from more than 15 industries, defining data strategies, building predictive models and AI solutions, and embedding data into business processes.
Saara’s main focus is to help companies in the area of data and AI strategy development, identifying optimal data use cases and defining related requirements on data, algorithms, architecture and compliance. Her work in AI ethics has ranged from helping define principles of AI ethics for companies to translating these into concrete actions for developers and finding novel ways of creating transparency using explainable AI.
Saara has a PhD in mathematics and extensive experience in the application of data science in both academic and business environments. She holds a position as a Professor of Practice at the University of Jyväskylä. Saara was listed among the 100 brilliant women in AI Ethics 2021.
