Eva Duran Sánchez (she/her) works as an International Partnerships Manager at CIVIC Software Foundation, a nonprofit that works towards redistributing power through transparent information systems. She is also a co–founder and organiser of the Feminist Futures Helsinki (FFH) hackathon, an initiative for socially engaged projects in Finland. She holds a MSc in Creative Sustainability by Aalto University and works actively in several civil society initiatives that center youth work.

Feminist Frameworks for Equitable AI

In the ETHICS x AI /HEL2022 workshop ‘Feminist frameworks for equitable AI’, Eva Duran Sánchez and Karolina Drobotowicz will combine different intersectional feminist methods and perspectives to navigate critical questions of equity in AI systems. The goal is to explore and challenge how power is distributed in data, technology and field practices. Special focus will be put on AI–enabled services in the public sector. Such services ought to support democratic values and human rights, however, existing use cases show us is this contradictory. This activity is open to everybody and seeks to encourage imagination and spark dialogue across different fields and participants’ expertise.
